Businesses

How fast can I get someone?

Most shifts are filled within 5–15 minutes. We notify nearby workers instantly when you post.

What does it cost to post a shift?

Posting a shift is free. You pay the worker's hourly rate plus a platform fee. During our launch phase, platform fees are reduced to 15% (standard) with a $12 minimum. You can optionally enable Priority Fill to increase marketplace visibility and accelerate worker matching — this upgrades the platform fee to 20%. First Shift Protection applies to your first 3 completed shifts — reduced launch pricing to help you get started. Urgency fees are flat fees ($5/$9/$12) based on how quickly you need coverage, not percentage surcharges. All fees are shown clearly before you submit — no surprises, no stacked percentages.

What is Priority Fill?

Priority Fill is an optional upgrade that increases your shift's marketplace visibility and accelerates worker matching. It upgrades the platform fee from 15% to 20% — a clean, predictable pricing model with no stacked percentages or confusing modifiers. Priority Fill shifts are shown to more workers and filled faster on average.

Is there first-shift protection for new businesses?

Yes. Your first 3 completed shifts receive First Shift Protection with reduced launch pricing (15% platform fee, flat urgency fees). This is designed to make trying One Night Brand lower-risk while you experience the platform. After 3 completed shifts, your business transitions to standard marketplace pricing automatically — no abrupt changes, no confusing jumps. You can still enable Priority Fill (20% platform fee) for faster matching if needed.

When am I charged?

You're not charged when you post. Payment is authorized (a temporary hold) against your saved card only when a worker accepts the shift. The charge is captured — and the worker is paid — only after you review and approve the completed hours. You control the approval.

Does first-shift protection or any fee cap affect worker pay?

No. Launch credits and capped fees reduce platform-side costs only — they are never deducted from the worker's earnings. Workers always receive their full authorized hourly rate.

What if the worker doesn't show up?

Mark them as a no-show in the app and repost instantly — we'll auto-boost the pay slightly to fill it faster.

What is Direct Digital Payment?

Direct Digital Payment shifts allow the business and worker to handle payout directly through digital apps like Venmo, Cash App, or Zelle. One Night Brand does not process or guarantee payment for these shifts. Workers are shown the business's payment handle before accepting and must acknowledge this. For full platform protection and automated payouts, choose Platform Protected (Stripe) shifts instead.

What is Platform Protected (Stripe)?

Platform Protected shifts use Stripe to automate the entire payout flow — payment is authorized when a worker accepts, captured after you approve hours, and sent directly to the worker's Stripe account. No manual transfers, no cash handling.

How are workers paid?

Payment depends on the shift type: for Platform Protected shifts, payment is authorized against your saved card when a worker accepts, then captured and sent via Stripe after you approve hours. For Direct Digital Payment shifts, you pay the worker directly through Venmo, Cash App, Zelle, or another agreed digital app.

How are contractor payouts tracked?

Every shift has a complete payment record: hours worked, gross pay, platform fee, and worker payout. All records are accessible in your business dashboard.

What fees are included?

A platform fee (15% during launch phase, minimum $12) is added on top of the worker's pay — it is never deducted from the worker's earnings. You can optionally enable Priority Fill to increase marketplace visibility — this upgrades the platform fee to 20%. Flat urgency fees ($5/$9/$12) may apply for same-day shifts based on urgency tier. All fees are shown clearly before you submit — no stacked percentages, no hidden charges. First Shift Protection applies to your first 3 completed shifts.

Is payment processing secure?

Yes. All payments are processed through Stripe — PCI-compliant, encrypted, and the same infrastructure used by major marketplaces worldwide.

How does Stripe Connect work?

Workers onboard through Stripe Connect Express — they verify their identity and add banking details directly with Stripe. ONB never stores or handles any banking or tax ID information.

Is there a contract or subscription?

No contracts, no subscriptions. Pay only when a shift is completed and approved.

How do payouts work?

Most shifts use Platform Protected payouts — after the business approves your hours, your full pay is sent directly to your Stripe-connected account within 1–2 business days. Stripe handles all payout processing securely. Platform fees are always paid by the business — never deducted from your earnings.

Do I need a traditional bank account?

No. You can connect debit cards or bank accounts linked to services like Cash App, Venmo, or many digital banking providers through Stripe onboarding. You do not need a traditional bank account — just a supported debit card or account that can receive transfers.

Can I use Cash App or Venmo for payouts?

Yes — through Stripe. If you have a debit card or bank account linked to Cash App, Venmo, or a similar digital banking service, you can connect that account during Stripe onboarding. Stripe does not pay directly to usernames or @handles — your debit card or linked bank account is what receives the transfer.

What is Direct Digital Payment?

Some shifts use Direct Digital Payment — a launch option where the business pays you directly through a digital app like Venmo, Cash App, or Zelle. You must acknowledge that One Night Brand does not process or guarantee payout for these shifts. For full platform protection and automated payouts, look for Platform Protected shifts.

Do I receive a 1099?

If your total payouts in a calendar year exceed applicable IRS reporting thresholds, Stripe will automatically generate a 1099-K or 1099-NEC for you. You can access all tax documents in your Stripe Express Dashboard from the Tax Center.

How does Stripe Connect work?

When you join ONB, you'll complete a Stripe Connect Express onboarding — this is how you add your debit card or bank account and verify your identity so payouts can be sent to you. ONB never stores your banking details or tax ID. Everything is secured within Stripe.

Is my payout information secure?

Yes. All payout infrastructure runs through Stripe — encrypted, PCI-compliant, and the same system used by major platforms worldwide. ONB never stores your SSN, bank account numbers, or identity documents.

How do I update my payout info?

Open your Tax Center from the Earnings page and click 'Open Stripe Dashboard.' All banking, tax, and identity information is managed directly in your Stripe Express account.

How long do payouts take?

Once the business approves hours, payouts are typically processed within 1–2 business days depending on your account. You can check payout status in your Earnings or Tax Center.

Do I need experience?

Most roles don't require certifications. Businesses specify what they need — just apply to shifts that match your skills.

What if I can't make it?

Cancel as early as possible through the app. Repeated last-minute cancellations hurt your reliability score and affect future opportunities.

What is the reliability score?

It's based on your on-time arrivals, completed shifts, and business ratings. A higher score gets you picked first for jobs.

Can high school students or workers under 18 use One Night Brand?

Yes, where legally eligible. Workers under 18 may need valid working papers or an employment certificate before accepting shifts. Requirements vary by state and type of work. In New York, workers ages 14–17 generally need working papers. If you are under 18, upload your working papers in your profile before accepting shifts.
